The use of crowd control to keep the enemy tanks/bruisers/assassins from killing an ally carry. Supports and bruisers like Lee Sin generally peel for their AD carries. Whether a champion should peel depends on team composition and who is fed.
Example: Ezreal is most of our damage but he needs someone to peel for him next fight.
I do not quite agree with this definition. Peel as term has different meaning, always saw it as “dropping opponent to low hp using bruiser/tank, gathering dmg and preparing them for finishing burst of apc/adc”.
I partly have to agree. Peel by definition means to “take off” so if someone can apply enough damage to be a threat to the tank/bruiser, then they are peeling.
